John has more than 30 years of experience in operations and technology management. His operations experience includes Terminal Operations, Containerized Cargo, General Cargo, Rail Operations, Truck Transportation, as well as Liner Operations. His technology experience includes Product and Project Management, Process Automation, Server and Network Infrastructure, EDI, Systems Integration, and Applications Development. He has managed teams of all sizes, including offshore development.
While at Tideworks Technology, John was responsible for all terminal management solutions. He was instrumental in the development and launch of the systems which are the basis for the SSA / Tideworks systems in use today. At WhereNet (a Silicon Valley RFID startup), he managed the RFID solutions for the container terminal vertical. These solutions, and their successful delivery in container terminals, were instrumental in WhereNet’s success and its eventual sale.
In his career, John has worked on dozens of technology deployments worldwide. His expertise has been critical in the successful design and delivery of solutions for industrial automation, e-commerce, shared services, and business intelligence. Along with extensive experience in software applications, he is an expert in core technologies that drive process automation, including: Global Navigation Satellite Systems, Radio Frequency Identification, Optical Character Recognition, and Telemetry Solutions. During his tenure with P5, John has served as the CTO of P5 and Fenix Marine Services.
